All strings except the E-string are winded.The outmost winding is made with a flattened wire to achieve a smooth surface.

The difference between the three grades Soft, Medium and Orchestra, is the tension of the string on the instrument (lowest tension has Soft).

To separate the different strings, a colour code is used on the strings.

             Colour at the ballend.                              Colour at the peg end.

                VIOLIN   VIOLA   CELLO                              TONE

Soft            BLUE     BLUE     BLUE                               E=VIOLET
Medium     GREEN  YELLOW GREEN                              A=VIOLET
Orchestra    RED       RED       RED                                D=GREEN
                                                                                 G=RED
                                                                                 C=BLUE

Be careful about the following when you handle the strings.

-Do not over pitch.

-Be careful about the groove in the saddle, so the string easily can glide.    Otherwise the tension between the saddle and the screw can be so high that the string can brake.
